If you think Sunday School isn't for you, you're missing one of the best parts of your worship experience here at Midway. It's where you meet with your friends and fellow Christians and dig deeper into what God calls us to do.
Sunday School allows you to experience worship and fellowship in a smaller circle of friends. Bible study and prayer will connect you to others and challenge you to grow spiritually. Classes are open to folks of every age and stage of life. We welcome newcomers at any time.
The Sunday school experience begins at 9:30 a.m. Just before the Sunday school hour, we gather in the narthex where members and guests can enjoy hot coffee and delicious snacks as well as casual and meaningful conversion.
We promise there are no pop quizzes, pressure, or presumptions. We study His Word, our faith, how others live it, and how we want to live it.
Join us this Sunday at 9:30 a.m. in the Narthex entrance between the Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall. We'll direct you to the right class!
Current Classes as of March 2009:
Ambassadors Class
The Ambassadors Class studies the Adult Bible Studies series. This Adult Bible Study is designed to help adults understand the meaning and authority of the Bible for Christian life. This quarter’s study will focus on Acts and the letters of Paul. This quarter’s (spring 2009) study will focus on Luke and the Old Testament.
Estell Venable teaches this class and meets in Room 206.
Circle of Friends Class
Our class is doing an old fashion bible study. The class right now is in the Gospel of Luke. We are going through Luke verse by verse and studying and discussing the spiritual meaning and what it means in our lives. It is a great opportunity to study the Bible and learn life lessons in a small group environment.
This class is lead by Alan Newton and Mary Williams in the church library.
Cornerstone Class
This small group study will explore some Old Testament stories. The aim is to deepen our understanding and to foster the practices of living in the world as Christians. Each week we will discuss a different Bible story. Please join us for a non pressure study in a small group atmosphere.
The Cornerstone Class meets in the Chapel. Facilitating this class is Mark Scudder and Jim Allen.
Fellowship Class
The Fellowship Class is now studying “The Beatitudes from the Backside” by J. Ellsworth Kalas. In this book, the author opens up new possibilities of insight into the Beatitudes, Jesus’ blessings from the Sermon on the Mount. This is a great opportunity to get a better understanding of Jesus teaching.
The Fellowship Class meets in Room 207. Class members teach, as they are lead to do so week to week, with lots of in-depth discussion.
F.A.I.T.H. (Faith and Inspiration Through Him)
As of August, 2009, the F.A.I.T.H. Sunday School class will be starting a new study on the Book of Luke. Please contact Bob Wilson at blw@hp.com if you would like to join this in-depth study and discussion.
