Midway MISSION

Wellroot Offering
There are nearly 11,000 children in foster care in Georgia and Wellroot receives over 370 foster care referrals each month. If only one family from each of the 700 churches in the North Georgia Conference said “YES!” to our call, imagine the difference we could make. The Amazing Grace Offering helps provide more children in foster care a loving, compassionate, and nurturing home. Our church is taking the offering in the month of September.
Give online: midwayumc.org/give
By check or in the offering envelope: note in the memo" Wellroot Offering"

Disaster Response Team
Damage from Hurricane Idalia earlier this month was extensive. Another UMC disaster response team will be serving either in the Valdosta, GA area or north FL. Can you join in?
When: departing Monday 9/25 and returning Friday 9/29
What: TBD; likely assisting with removing downed trees, tarping damaged roofs, or "mucking out" flooded homes (removing wet belongings and sheetrock)
Where: we sleep in host churches; bring sleeping bags and air mattresses
Why: to show the love of Jesus to storm victims in need
No training necessary; trained team members will be present to give you direction and guidance. Work is physical and weather is hot, however a "team listener" is always needed to lend a compassionate ear to homeowners who are often present. This role does not require physical exertion, just an ability to be in the heat.
Also requested:

Fall Crafting In October
JOIN US IN OCTOBER AS WE DO SOME FALL CRAFTING! The craft group is gathering for it's first monthly meeting on Tuesday October 3rd at the church from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. We'll make no-sew fabric pumpkins; you can make one or make a few, whatever you wish... These are especially fun to make because you can use old long-sleeve shirts to create your pumpkins! You may have old flannel, cotton, or other long-sleeved shirts you wish to use, or you might want to visit Goodwill or a thrift store to pick up a shirt or two. (We will also have several on hand as well for those who don't bring one.) If you have your own fabric scissors, you may wish to bring those as well (though we'll have some on hand, too). All other supplies will be provided.
Cost per person is $10, which includes creating up to 3 pumpkins.
Please contact Karen Vis at 678-230-3917 or at clint60_60@yahoo.com to register.
She will provide details for where to meet and payment. Registration ends September 29, 2023.
