Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..."

Matthew 19:14

The program at Midway Preschool (formerly known as We Wonder Preschool) is designed to nurture children in a loving Christian atmosphere and to be warmly responsive to their needs. God continues to provide a truly remarkable ministry in this preschool setting. We are blessed to have exceptional staff who are dedicated, loving, nurturing, and supportive to one another, our students, and the parents. The kindness, faith, positive attitudes, smiles, laughter, and hugs that are so generously given and received within our hallways make Midway Preschool a special place. It is our prayer that each child who attends our preschool will find a loving Christian environment in which to experience physical, emotional, social, and intellectual growth.

Registration Form for 2023-24 School Year

Church Member Registration
To register your child at Midway Preschool as a church member, you and your immediate family must have joined Midway UMC at least six (6) months prior to registration and actively participate in the ministry of the church through your regular presence in worship and giving to the church.
Note:  Preschool is a Nine (9) Month Commitment
Registration with Midway Preschool is a nine (9) month commitment.  Our budget depends upon each family’s commitment to the full nine (9) months.  Withdrawal shortly after the school year begins causes vacancies in our classrooms, a shortfall to our financial plan and negatively impacts the consistency of a child’s early childhood education.  Please consider your family’s plans for 2023-2024 and the importance of the nine (9) month commitment prior to registration.

Preschool Programs

Mother's Morning Out (MMO):

Children must be 12 months old by September 1. This is a first-group experience designed to introduce early social skills through music, artwork and play. Our babies receive lots of love and attention which leads to security in an environment other than home. Children are encouraged to explore their environment and experience growth in socialization.
This class is offered Mon/Wed or Tues/Thurs. Maximum enrollment is 10 students per class.

3's:

Children must be 3 years old by September 1. The 3’s class places emphasis on developing social skills with the introduction of academic skills and growth of self. The children are introduced to numbers 1-10 in concept and sight. They are introduced to the alphabet by learning to recognize their written names. Children will be given an introduction to letters and their sounds. Our primary concern is to provide the children with a positive school experience with individualized attention. They are encouraged to grow in a good self-image to improve their motor skills through art, music, play and special guests.
This class is offered on T/Th, MWF or M-F. Maximum enrollment is 14 students per class.

2’s:

Children must be 2 years old by September 1.
The 2’s class is a step into the toddler age and phase. In this class, the children receive individual attention and cuddling to help gain confidence to discover their new environment and their classmates. They are encouraged to learn socialization skills, share, take turns and to verbalize their desires and needs. They will be introduced to learning through “hands on” discovery of art, music,  and play, with special guests.
This class is offered on T/Th or MWF. Maximum enrollment is 12 students per class.

Young 5's:

Children must be 5 years old by September 1. This class is designed for children who are eligible for kindergarten and would benefit from an additional year with us. Focus is given to kindergarten readiness skills with special attention given to pre-reading and pre-math. This class follows the same basic curriculum as our Pre-K classes with more emphasis placed upon structure, decision making and personal responsibility. During this year, the children experience tremendous growth in maturity and confidence.
This class is offered M-F. Maximum enrollment is 16 per class.

Pre-K:

Children must be 4 years old by September 1.
Pre-kindergarten is offered either 3 days (MWF) or 5 days (M-F) per week. These classes will receive special guidance to aid children entering a formal kindergarten or students who return to us the following year. The class curriculum is focused to give children the self confidence necessary to make the transition to kindergarten a wonderful experience. Children will be introduced to the upper- and lower-case letters of the alphabet and their sounds. They will work on pre-reading skills such as phonics, rhyming, left-to-right progression and opposites. The use of language through stories, word games and conversation will enhance their abilities in speech. The number concepts are introduced by working with sets and the recognition of numbers in concept and in sight. These children will have “hands on” experiences through art and music, with occasional special guests. Maximum enrollment is 16 students per class.
