Why is connection so important?

God never intended us to live the Christian life alone; He created us to be in community with one another. Connecting through friendship and fellowship, and sharing our faith journeys with other believers can enrich our lives and help to bring us closer on our walk with God. As we journey through life - especially when we face battles - having fellow Christians to support us can make all the difference .
"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds..." -  Hebrews 10:24

Stephen Ministry

Are you feeling overwhelmed, or mentally and emotionally exhausted by stressful challenges in life such as:
  • Isolation and loneliness
  • Anxiety over health
  • Grief
  • Juggling work, childcare, and schooling responsibilities
  • Financial strain or job loss
  • Uncertainty about the future

You don’t have to go through it alone. Stephen Ministry is a one-on-one caring ministry that is grounded in a biblical understanding of Jesus, His church, and His ministry. It helps those who have normal coping skills but need someone to walk alongside them in faith and prayer during times when they are overwhelmed. If you are experiencing difficulties like these, our Stephen Ministers are ready to listen, care, encourage, and offer support.

A Stephen Minister will meet with you privately—by phone, by video chat, or in person —to focus on you and your needs. It’s free and completely confidential, and it offers real care, comfort, and hope.

Walk to Emmaus

Click on this short video to hear what members of churches in the Houston area had to say about their Walk to Emmaus experiences
Spoiler alert: it's not a physical outing.
The Walk to Emmaus is an experience of Christian spiritual renewal and formation that begins with a three-day retreat. The goal:  to grow leaders in the church and empower them to become active members within their local congregations. It's an opportunity to meet Jesus in a new way, as God's grace and unconditional love are shown through other believers.
Several Walks (retreats) are usually scheduled each spring and fall.
Midway UMC has one of the largest and most active Emmaus communities (those who have participated in a WTE) in North Georgia, and the church hosts free informational dinners for church members who may be interested in participating.

Music

Music has always played an important role in the life of those who follow God. Whether you prefer the hymns and anthems of the traditional style, or the praise and worship songs of the contemporary style, Midway has talented musicians who serve faithfully to help us hear the word of God and experience God’s love in unique ways. In addition to worship music, we like to have fun with a few special events throughout the year.
